How to Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow & Root for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920T!

For those of you looking to try Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on TouchWiz with root for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920T, there is a preview version you can try out right now.

This is an early edition of what the final firmware will look like and everything works but the battery seems to drain faster than usual.  Of course, I do advise you to wait until the official version is out but if you cannot wait or simply want to try it out, here’s how to do it.

Files you will need:

Download Android 6.0 Marshmallow Firmware Files – Link

Download Custom Kernel – Link (You MUST install the custom kernel along with the firmware otherwise you will end up in a bootloop!)

Download Note 5 USB Drivers for Windows – Link

Download ODIN – Link

Download TWRP for Note 5 – Link (If you don’t already have TWRP recovery installed)

Download SuperSU v2.52 – Link

Step 1. Backup your apps using Titanium Backup app, and also make a backup of everything on your phone to an external storage (such as USB OTG or hard disk) just in case something goes wrong.

Step 2. Enable Developer Options by hitting the Build Number in About Phone a bunch of times and make sure “OEM Unlock” is set ON.

Step 3. Power off the phone and put into download mode by holding down Volume Down + Center Home + Power buttons, then hit the Volume Up button to put into ODIN Download mode.

Step 4. Run ODIN and load BL, AP, and CP files and hit Start.

Step 5. Repeat Step 3 to put into download mode then run ODIN again.  Hit AP and set the file to the custom kernel.

Step 6. Your phone now should reboot.  If it ends up in a bootloop, boot into TWRP recovery and do a factory reset. (If you do not have TWRP recovery, repeat Step 3 and flash TWRP recovery using ODIN in AP slot.)

Step 7. Once booted, you should now be in Marshmallow!  If you want root, copy over the SuperSU v2.52 to your phone then flash it using TWRP.
